HURONIA PLAYERS - A New Home in 2011
Midland's downtown will see a new Cultural Centre and home of Huronia Players, Quest Art Gallery and an Event Centre.
This interior perspective rendering from architect Howard Rideout, shows the entrance to Huronia Players on the left, and Quest gallery right. The common gathering space and cafe between the two will also serve as an informal performance space for music, dance or theatre. The entrance to Huronia Players shown gives access to the back of the120 seat theatre while another entrance at ground level will bring the audience in at the second row. Not wanting to lose any of the intimacy of the current 57 seat studio on William street, this new space has only 8 rows of seats with excellent viewing at all angles.
Sometimes it is the basic things that excite us most - like washrooms for the cast and crew and a dressing room in which to change. This new centre will be a totally volunteer-run centre, operating much the way Huronia Players does, with excitement, enthusiasm and a love for the arts. We look forward to moving to our new space in the fall of 2011. We offer many thanks to the Cultural Centre committee coordinator John Lister, and our friend and philanthropist, Reinhart Weber.
