SYNOPSIS
One of Britain's hottest playwrights has come forth with The Memory of Water, a play about three sisters who return home to the north of England for their Mother's funeral. As the title indicates, the play deals with the realm of memory. Each sister holds distinct memories of their collective childhood. Throughout the play, the sisters struggle over who remembers which events more clearly, only to find that family stories, many times re-told can be re-shaped and detailed until the story actually replaces the memory. Yet the age old tradition of recollecting family stories, bound by love, laughter, anger, and tears is still the centre of this bittersweet, life affirming comedy.
